Bybit seeks partnership with major brokerages to challenge Robinhood in the US market.
October 21: Bybit CEO Ben Zhou stated that Bybit plans to partner with established local enterprises when entering the U.S. market to compete with platforms such as Robinhood. Citing Interactive Brokers as an example, he said that at this stage it is more suitable to seek partners that already have a U.S. customer base and wish to expand into crypto business.
Ben Zhou said that applying for money transmitter licenses state by state could take 2 to 3 years, and he prefers to wait for progress on the CLARITY Act and further clarity on the new regulatory framework, choosing the right timing to enter the U.S. rather than acting hastily. He believes that although the U.S. market is large in scale, competition is intense and it is already highly saturated.
In addition, Bybit is studying the UK market, but Ben Zhou said its entry costs are relatively high, and the location of the London office has not yet been determined. The company also plans to launch a comprehensive app covering derivatives and tokenized stocks in Europe as early as the first quarter of 2027.
