Polymarket launches 'Gold/Silver 15-Minute Up/Down' market, still zero trading volume 4 days after opening.
According to PolyBeats monitoring, on October 22, Polymarket's gold and silver 15-minute up/down series were established, with the first window opening at 03:50. As of October 27 Beijing time, the gold and silver 15-minute series have each closed 54 windows, with trading volume both at $0.
Regarding settlement rules, if the gold price at the end of the window is greater than or equal to the gold price at the start, it settles as "up"; otherwise, it settles as "down". The price source is Chainlink's XAU/USD data stream, and the rules specifically note that no other sources or spot markets are referenced; the silver market rules are the same, using XAG/USD instead. Unlike cryptocurrency 15-minute markets that use a 60-second average price, the gold and silver markets settle based on the spot price at a single point in time, with gold prices precise to the cent and silver prices retaining three decimal places; the benchmark price is published approximately 1 minute after the window opens. Fees follow the settings of the 15-minute market, charged only to takers, with a portion of fees rebated to market makers.
Similar products already have pioneers. Kalshi previously launched gold and silver 15-minute up/down contracts, also counting as up if the end price is greater than or equal to the start price, with settlement using Pyth's 1-minute candlestick closing price. According to Kalshi's public interface, among the most recent 1,000 settled windows, gold 15-minute contracts traded approximately 403 million units.
