October 29 — Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook unexpectedly voted today in favor of a 25 basis point rate hike, diverging from the Fed's decision to keep rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%. This dissenting vote marks Cook's first since joining the Fed in 2022.
This also coincides with President Trump's second attempt to remove Cook from the Federal Reserve Board, after a previous effort was blocked by the Supreme Court.
