Polymarket hack compensation to be implemented in tiers: amounts under $10K to be directly reimbursed, large amounts require signing a settlement release agreement.
October 30: Prediction market platform Polymarket's international site has publicly promised "full compensation" to affected traders after a third-party service provider was hacked and some user funds were stolen, and has reported the case to law enforcement; the U.S. site was unaffected. On-chain analysis shows that approximately 710+ wallets had a total of about $2.7 million transferred out.
According to CNBC, users with losses below $10,000 will have their funds directly restored by October 30; those above that threshold must sign a release (settlement/liability waiver) document before receiving compensation. Some users posted screenshots of the agreement, saying that before large compensation payments they were also required to submit identity information—the platform verbally says "make whole," but in writing it looks like first signing a receipt saying "don't sue us again." The official tweet did not disclose the full contract text.
