Experts warn of a potential wave of AI hacker attacks, as the $6.3 billion Binance theft incident serves as a wake-up call.

October 31 - Eric Schiffer, Chairman of Patriarch, warned that the $6.3 billion attack on Binance may signal the arrival of a larger wave of cyber attacks, and as AI capabilities continue to strengthen, enterprises will face more sophisticated cybersecurity threats. He stated: "The bloodbath of AI hacking is still ahead, and more losses will occur in the future."

Schiffer believes that this incident highlights the cybersecurity challenges faced by large financial institutions, and enterprises can no longer treat cybersecurity as a problem to be solved only after being attacked. He expects Binance to be able to restore its financial condition with its balance sheet, but the incident may damage user trust and cause some asset holders to leave.

Binance has prepared more than $6.34 billion in corporate funds to cover losses, of which about $5 billion in equivalent assets are already in place, and another approximately $3 billion in stolen assets has been frozen on-chain. TRM Labs attributed the attack to the North Korean state-sponsored hacking group TraderTraitor, and stated that approximately $6.36 billion in assets were transferred across 10 blockchains, with most of the transfers occurring within about 20 minutes. The U.S. Secret Service is working with the private sector to track and recover the funds.
