New Jersey withdraws staking ban and lawsuit against Coinbase, local users can resume staking.

Nov 3, 08:35

November 3 — Coinbase Legal Molly Abraham posted that New Jersey has officially withdrawn its staking lawsuit against Coinbase and lifted the cease-and-desist order, paving the way for the restoration of staking for users in the state. Local users had missed millions of dollars in staking rewards over the past three years due to the restrictions. The New Jersey Bureau of Securities revoked the summary penalty and cease-and-desist order issued to Coinbase in June 2023 on October 30, 2026, including a $5 million civil penalty. The revocation does not involve a substantive ruling and likewise does not preclude future enforcement action.

Abraham stated that defending users' right to access safe and compliant staking services remains a priority, and said the next targets include Wisconsin, Maryland, California, and Washington.
