Akash to migrate its blockchain infrastructure to Solana within 24 months
Nov. 3: According to Tech in Asia, decentralized compute marketplace Akash Network has announced that, after receiving community approval, it will migrate its blockchain infrastructure to Solana within 24 months. About 97% of voting token holders support the plan, and Akash Marketplace, AkashML and Akash Homenode will launch natively on Solana. Akash says the reason for the migration is Solana's low transaction costs, strong liquidity and access to a large on-chain user base.
The migration will replace Akash's Cosmos-based chain and covers not just the token but also the underlying blockchain infrastructure. Existing AKT holders can swap their tokens 1:1 for SPL AKT through a dedicated portal. The plan has passed on-chain governance. The report notes that the move aligns with Solana's push into DePIN, covering compute and physical infrastructure.
