Nov 3, 13:07

November 3 - According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Ministry of Unification said today that regarding the U.S. investigation authorities' identification of North Korea as the mastermind behind the Binance hack, the top priority is to accurately grasp the situation. A Ministry of Unification official stated that the relevant information came from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and that South Korean government departments have not yet shared the information among themselves.

When asked whether South Korea would participate in the international community's additional sanctions against North Korea, the official said that response plans should be studied with relevant departments after grasping the situation, and that there is currently no need to discuss additional sanctions.

Previously, Kim Yo-jong, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued a statement calling the identification of North Korea as the mastermind behind the Binance hack a "serious political provocation," and warned that North Korea would re-examine the United States' hostile attitude. Yonhap noted that this is Kim Yo-jong's first response to international criticism of North Korea's illegal cyber activities.
