Trump acknowledges Iran war drags down Republican election prospects, but does not regret launching the war

November 4 - According to The Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Trump stated that the Iran war is partly to blame for the Republican Party's widespread losses in the midterm elections. However, he still insists that he does not regret launching the war, even though the conflict has dragged down his approval ratings. For months, he has been trying to end the conflict and has complained to advisers that it has become a lingering problem.

Trump said: "I don't think about these things. I did the right thing. If I had to do it all over again, I would do the same." Trump believes that the real biggest political burden is not the war itself, but the surge in oil prices. The conflict has caused a sharp rise in U.S. gasoline and diesel prices, triggering voter dissatisfaction. He argued that voters did not withhold support for the Republican Party because of dissatisfaction with the economy or allegations of corruption within the Trump administration. He also said he does not regret not talking more about economic issues during the campaign. Trump stated that he has no plans to adjust personnel within the government and expressed support for Defense Secretary Hegseth, who led the war effort. He said: "In fact, I think he is outstanding."
