CBS projection: US Democrats on track for largest House majority in nearly 20 years

November 4 — CBS News predicts that the Democratic Party has won control of the U.S. House of Representatives, ending the Republican Party's full control of both chambers of Congress since the start of Trump's second term.

According to projections from the CBS News election analysis unit, Democrats are expected to secure their largest House majority advantage in nearly 20 years. After regaining control of the House, Democrats will be able to lead congressional committee investigations, conduct oversight of the government, and block the advancement of some of Trump's legislative agenda.
