November 4th - According to data from the BIT stock platform, the computing power cloud sector experienced a significant decline in pre-market trading in the US stock market, with the following:

Oracle fell 4.83%, CoreWeave fell 9.53%, Nebius fell 6.77%, IREN fell 7.69%, Applied Digital fell 7.24%.

On the news front, the Democratic Party achieved a major victory in the US midterm elections, with multiple candidates who explicitly oppose data center expansion being elected as governors, triggering market concerns about a slowdown in US AI infrastructure investment. Asian chip stocks came under pressure on Wednesday, with companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix facing risks that demand for server DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) may be affected.

Opposition to data centers is mainly focused on issues such as noise, water consumption, energy consumption, and driving up residential electricity bills. The market is concerned that local governments may tighten project approvals on the grounds of power supply, environmental protection, and AI safety, leading to delays in new data center construction. However, analysts believe that regulation may not necessarily directly lead to a shrinkage in investment scale, and tech companies may also turn to building their own power and supporting infrastructure.
