Bitcoin mining difficulty has remained below its peak for 374 consecutive days, setting the longest record in history.
November 7 — Bitcoin mining difficulty has remained below the all-time high of 155.97T set on October 29, 2025, for 374 days, the longest stretch in the network's history, surpassing the 364-day record set after the 2011 crash and the 253 days following China's mining ban in 2021.
Economist Saifedean Ammous noted that neither the 2011 price drawdown nor the Chinese mining ban lasted as long as this episode, calling it a new world for Bitcoin mining. Difficulty fell to a low of 124.93T in mid-June 2026, roughly 20% below the peak. Although it rebounded in October to 148.36T, Mempool.space expects another decline of about 3.7% around November 13, further delaying a new high. Reports say the pressure comes from depressed Bitcoin prices and listed mining companies selling Bitcoin and pivoting to AI, while Democrats' push for data center restrictions after the midterm elections could also affect miners.
