RedotPay acquires Japanese crypto exchange BTCBOX

October 24: According to NADA NEWS, crypto payment provider RedotPay announced in a recently updated official notice that it has acquired Japanese crypto asset exchange BTCBOX, and will subsequently provide services compliant with Japanese regulations through BTCBOX. RedotPay does not hold a Japanese crypto asset exchange business license. The notice acknowledged that its existing services for Japanese residents do not meet local regulatory requirements and will be restricted in phases and ultimately terminated. RedotPay has suspended new user registrations in Japan and has removed its app from the Japanese Apple and Google app stores. BTCBOX was founded in 2014 and obtained its exchange business registration in September 2017. After a customer information leak in January this year, BTCBOX suspended all services and began a phased restoration on August 3. RedotPay said it will provide BTCBOX with financial and technical support.
