TRM: 34 Cambodian Casinos Received $1.07B in Crypto; 64% Flowed to Casinos Tied to OFAC-Sanctioned Networks
October 31: According to TRM data, between January 1 and September 7, 2026, 34 physical casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received approximately $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency. Of that, 64% of the funds went to casinos linked to networks sanctioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and 99.9% of the funds were transferred as USDT on the TRON blockchain. Monthly inflows fell from an average of $148 million per month between January and May to about $95 million in July and August, but did not stop entirely. These casinos exchange USDT for cash and conduct almost no necessary due diligence on customers; in addition, pawnshops, supermarkets and exchange counters across the city also offer "crypto-to-cash" services.
