Ethereum Economic Zone launches Rollup X devnet, demonstrating atomic cross-chain execution

Nov 5, 08:51

November 5: According to CryptoBriefing, the Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ), co-initiated by Gnosis and Zisk and funded by the Ethereum Foundation, launched the Rollup X development testnet (devnet) at Devcon 8 to demonstrate synchronous composability. The EEZ aims to connect applications on specialized chains through Ethereum-neutral infrastructure and enable atomic cross-chain execution, allowing a contract on one EEZ rollup or on Ethereum mainnet to call another contract within a single transaction, with ETH as the default gas token and no new token introduced.

The EEZ is governed by a Swiss nonprofit organization, and its alliance members include Aave, Safe, and Centrifuge, among others. Gnosis Chain plans to migrate to the EEZ rollup in spring 2027, becoming the first major active network to test the framework. The report noted that the risks lie in the high technical difficulty and the possibility that atomic execution across multiple systems could expand the attack surface.
