Samsung Q3 Operating Profit Surges 783% as AI Memory Boom Drives Chip Business Profits
On Thursday, Oct 8, Samsung Electronics released preliminary third-quarter results, with operating profit surging 783% year-on-year and increasing 20.01% quarter-on-quarter, slightly exceeding analyst expectations. This was primarily driven by a sharp rise in demand for AI chips, which fueled robust profit growth in the memory division. Regulatory filings show that the world’s largest memory chip manufacturer expects operating profit of 107.4 trillion won (approximately $80.17 billion) for the July–September quarter, ahead of a market forecast of 106.1 trillion won. This marks Samsung’s fourth consecutive quarter of record operating profit. Third-quarter revenue totaled 195 trillion won, up 127% year-on-year, versus a market expectation of 199 trillion won. Samsung Electronics will issue a full earnings report later this month. (Jinshi)
