US Government Transfers Over 9,200 BTC to Coinbase Prime, Worth Approximately $770 Million

On October 8, on-chain analytics firm Galaxy Research (@glxyresearch) monitored that the US government deposited approximately 8,428 BTC into Coinbase Prime today. Combined with yesterday's 834 BTC, the total transferred reaches 9,261 BTC, valued at roughly $770 million. Nearly half of these funds originate from recovered assets following the Bitfinex hack, some come from known seizure cases at Binance, and another 2,456 BTC remain of unknown origin.

The US government currently holds a BTC balance of 319,086, down from its historical peak of 352,587 in August 2024. Of this amount, 71% consists of assets that have not yet been fully vested, including 127,271 BTC linked to the LuBian case and 94,643 BTC recovered from Bitfinex. This transfer represents the ninth-largest single-day outflow on record and the largest since December 2, 2024.
