Manus raises over $500 million after reversing Meta acquisition, valuation doubles

Oct 8, 12:15

Beating AI News Flash: Manus's parent company, Butterfly Effect, has announced the completion of a new funding round exceeding $500 million. Boyu Capital and IDG Capital led the round, with existing shareholders Tencent, Sequoia China, and ZhenFund continuing to participate.

At the end of last year, Manus was reportedly acquired by Meta for approximately $2 billion. However, in April of this year, regulators required the deal to be revoked. Original shareholders including Tencent subsequently participated in a buyback, and Manus resumed independent operations in September.

Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Manus's current funding round targets a valuation of approximately $4 billion, double the roughly $2 billion buyback valuation at the time of the revoked Meta acquisition. However, Manus's announcement did not disclose the final valuation.

Additionally, Manus is considering restructuring its corporate framework to prepare for a future listing in Hong Kong. This plan has not yet been officially confirmed.
