Cointelegraph Denies Sale Rumors, Publicly Pushes Back Against CoinDesk Report for Containing False Information

Oct 8, 13:44

On October 8, according to a prior CoinDesk report, well-known crypto media outlet Cointelegraph is seeking a new buyer following a severe drop in recent traffic. In response, on October 8, Cointelegraph issued a strong public statement via its official X account, directly stating that the report "contains false information and multiple factual errors," and clearly affirming, "We are not for sale, nor will we be silent." The statement criticized CoinDesk for drawing readers in through manufactured controversy and clickbait, noting that such methods erode journalistic credibility, and questioned whether its publisher was exchanging sensationalist headlines for commercial profit. Cointelegraph called on CoinDesk to publicly acknowledge the error and give the correction the same visibility as the original article, emphasizing that "credibility is rooted in accuracy and accountability, not sensationalism."
