Netflix Announces Trailer for FTX Collapse Prequel Series, Releasing November 19
On October 9, according to Cointelegraph, video streaming platform Netflix released a trailer for its upcoming eight-episode drama series centered on the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, with former CEO Sam “SBF” Bankman-Fried and his girlfriend and colleague, Caroline Ellison, head of Alameda Research, as the central figures.
The series will launch on November 19, starring Anthony Boyle as Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Ellison. The trailer highlights the themes the series aims to explore, specifically the belief among the characters that "going all-in every time is mathematically the optimal strategy," which appears to reference the exchange's high-risk investments made with user funds.
Additionally, the trailer features a line from Ellison's character: "Lying for a good reason isn't necessarily a bad thing." This echoes Ellison's recollection during her testimony in Bankman-Fried's 2023 criminal trial, when she revealed that Bankman-Fried believed the rules against lying and theft did not necessarily apply to the philosophical concept of Effective Altruism.
