OpenAI Asia-Pacific Public Policy Head Departs After Just Six Months.
On October 9, according to sources familiar with the matter, OpenAI's highest-ranking public policy executive in the Asia Pacific region is stepping down after six months on the job, as the ChatGPT developer currently faces scrutiny from regulators in the region. Based on his LinkedIn profile, the executive, Sanghyun Lee, is based in Singapore and previously spent six years at Google before joining OpenAI in April this year. The reasons for his departure remain unclear.
Lee's profile indicates that he led OpenAI's public policy and government relations efforts across Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, and Southeast Asia.
