Gennius Partners with Coinbase to Launch Digital Asset Services for Latin American Banks, Debuting in Argentina

On October 10 that, according to an official announcement, payment and tokenization platform Gennius has partnered with Coinbase to launch stablecoin and digital asset services for banking institutions in Latin America. The services cover stablecoin payments, digital asset custody and trading, and local currency on/off ramps, with Argentina as the first deployed market.

The core product of this partnership is ONED USD, a digital dollar backed 1:1 by USDC, custodied by Coinbase, and issued on the Base blockchain. Bank clients can convert their deposits and loyalty points into ONED USD, and spend at over 175 million merchants worldwide using an instantly issued Visa card, with funds transferable at near-zero cost 24/7.

Gennius has already integrated with 85 financial institutions and operates over 529 tokenization projects, covering 37 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a user base exceeding 11.8 million. The two parties plan to subsequently expand this model to additional Latin American markets, including Brazil and Colombia.
