OneKey Founder: Ledger Incident Exposes Hardware Wallet "Last Centimeter" Risk, Will Upgrade Packaging, Hardware Design, and Distribution Network
On October 10 that OneKey founder Yishi stated in a post that recent asset loss incidents involving Ledger users have sparked community concerns over hardware wallet security. The risk may not stem from the secure chip itself, but rather lies in the so-called "last centimeter" segment between the protected chip and the user-trusted display screen, where sensitive data could be exposed during transmission. Hardware wallet security must encompass the entire process from production and logistics to storage and distribution, and Yishi recommended that users purchase devices through official channels, conduct packaging inspections, and complete official verification.
As of October 10, OneKey has not received any reports from users regarding fund losses caused by this incident. To address supply chain attack risks, OneKey plans to implement improvements across multiple areas, including packaging, mnemonic phrase display paths, motherboard communication, distributor authorization and user verification processes, and its distribution network.
