Lido Launches 0x02 CSM Permissionless Staking Module, Supporting Up to 2048 ETH Per Validator

Oct 24, 22:07

On October 24 that Lido officially launched its 0x02 Community Staking Module (CSM), enabling any eligible participants to run Ethereum validators with an effective balance of up to 2,048 ETH via the Lido protocol, thereby further expanding permissionless staking access.

According to the announcement, the 0x02 CSM operates on a margin-based mechanism. Operators must provide a 32 ETH margin for their initial validator key and 30 ETH for each additional key, with the remainder of the staked funds allocated by the Lido protocol. When a validator's effective balance reaches 2,048 ETH, this model is projected to improve capital efficiency by approximately 2.18x to 2.26x compared to solo staking.

The new module implements a phased deposit mechanism, where validators first receive a 32 ETH initial deposit and subsequently add staked funds incrementally after activation. The initial capacity limit is capped at 0.01% of Lido Core TVL, expected to support around 32 validator keys in the launch phase before scaling up gradually.

Lido noted that the legacy 0x01 CSM module will remain operational, with no migration required for existing operators. The combined capacity limit for both modules will ultimately reach 20% of Lido Core TVL, although this figure does not reflect the currently active quota.
