Over 9,800 UK users have filed complaints regarding banks restricting cryptocurrency transactions across all 650 parliamentary constituencies
According to CoinDesk, cryptocurrency advocacy group Stand With Crypto (SWC) reported that between May and August this year, UK consumers filed 10,092 complaints regarding banks restricting cryptocurrency purchases through its online tool, involving 9,800 users across all 650 parliamentary constituencies in the UK.
Among the banks, Lloyds Banking Group (including Halifax and Bank of Scotland) received 2,297 complaints, accounting for approximately 23% of the total; Barclays Bank and NatWest Group received 1,569 and 1,278, respectively.
SWC noted that some banks have set explicit cryptocurrency transfer limits, while institutions such as Chase, Starling, and TSB are listed as those that completely prohibit related transactions.
SWC also emphasized that the complaints originated from consumers who actively used its online tool, rather than constituting a representative survey of bank customers, and therefore cannot be used directly to assess the actual complaint rates across individual banks.
