Banks shelve Texas data center bond issuance tied to Anthropic

Oct 29, 09:35

On October 29, Bloomberg reported that multiple banks have delayed plans to sell portions of a $15 billion loan due to Texas suspending new construction projects and evaluating their risks to the power grid. The loan is intended to fund a Texas data center linked to Anthropic. Following the delay in bond issuance, banks will hold the debt longer than originally planned, keeping the related liabilities on their balance sheets. Currently, Anthropic is ramping up investments in compute infrastructure in preparation for a large-scale IPO.
