Ethereum Foundation launches digital public infrastructure website for the public sector

Nov 3, 12:56

On November 3 that the Ethereum Foundation announced the launch of its dedicated public sector website, publicsector.ethereum.foundation, aimed at governments, multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations, and other public interest institutions to highlight the potential of Ethereum as digital public infrastructure. The website features accessible explanations of Ethereum, real-world implementation cases, and practical resources, accompanied by the publication of the blog post "Designing for sovereignty: Ethereum for digital public infrastructure".

The Ethereum Foundation points out that as public services become increasingly interconnected, shared infrastructure controlled by a single provider could create new dependencies. Ethereum is a global open-source network not governed by any single organization, enabling institutions to collaborate on it without relying on centralized operators to maintain access, while retaining autonomy over their own systems and policies. Furthermore, Ethereum-based applications allow individuals to prove eligibility for services without disclosing extraneous information, eliminating the need to store sensitive personal data in centralized databases.
