July 30th, according to The Information citing sources familiar with the matter, Moonshot AI is seeking to acquire more NVIDIA Blackwell AI chips to train the next-generation Kimi K4 model. The report stated that Moonshot AI had previously used NVIDIA chips to train Kimi K3, despite U.S. export controls banning the export of advanced AI chips to China.

The report pointed out that if the relevant news is true, it means that Chinese AI companies are still able to access NVIDIA's latest generation AI chip resources, raising questions once again about the effectiveness of U.S. export restrictions on advanced AI chips. Analysts believe this will further exacerbate concerns in the U.S. market about Chinese AI models rapidly catching up to leading models such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
