Serenity: SK Hynix, Micron, Samsung's 2027 DRAM/HBM Capacity Fully Allocated, Storage Shortage to Persist
August 4th, according to Serenity citing industry chain sources from Digitimes, SK Hynix, Micron (MU), and Samsung Electronics have already sold out their 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity, and customers can currently only obtain about 60% to 70% of their initial demand.
Serenity stated that the current storage supply constraints exceed market expectations, and 2027 may face the "most severe storage shortage phase." At the same time, the annual NAND capacity of Western Digital (SNDK), Samsung Electronics, and Micron has also been fully booked, with Kioxia and SK Hynix expected to complete capacity allocation by August 2026.
Serenity pointed out that although some market views previously predicted a storage surplus by mid-2027, the current industry chain situation shows that major storage manufacturers' capacity has already been sold out in advance, keeping the supply-demand relationship tight.
It is reported that the capacity allocations between manufacturers and customers have been mostly determined, but the final product prices will still be determined closer to delivery based on market conditions. The continuous development of AI infrastructure continues to drive the demand for HBM and high-end DRAM, which may become a key factor in future storage supply constraints.
