SK Hynix's DRAM Market Share Leads Micron by Only About 1 Percentage Point, HBM Pricing Shifts Emerging as Key Factor

Aug 4, 13:52

August 4th, Citrini analyst Jukan quoted Counterpoint Research data as saying that in the second quarter of 2026, the DRAM market share data showed that SK Hynix's market share based on revenue was only about 1 percentage point ahead of Micron.

Jukan stated that this result is different from the market's previous expectations, mainly because the price of HBM3E did not continue to rise but instead saw a reduction after renegotiation. Meanwhile, the launch of HBM4 has been delayed, which also impacted SK Hynix's growth expectations.

In addition, SK Hynix signed long-term supply agreements (LTA) earlier, and its fixed supply price is said to be lower than that of its competitors, which also affected its revenue market share performance.

Previously, it was widely believed in the market that with the advantage of HBM3E supply, SK Hynix would expand its lead during the AI storage demand growth cycle. However, the latest data shows that Micron is narrowing the gap with SK Hynix.
