Cloudflare launches AI Proxy Wallet, supporting Smart Body Autonomous Payment API

August 4th, Cloudflare announced the launch of Cloudflare Wallets, providing Internet-facing payment and identity infrastructure for AI Agents. Cloudflare stated that currently, AI Agents often encounter human-oriented registration, login, payment, and API key generation processes when trying new APIs, lacking stable identity and native payment capabilities. This hinders agents from autonomously exploring and comparing different services, limiting the commercial development of intelligent entities. The newly launched wallet system aims to address this issue, allowing AI Agents to more conveniently purchase APIs, content, and other digital services.

Cloudflare Wallets will support two modes: Account Wallets and Virtual Wallets. Account Wallets are designed for individual and business users, allowing them to top up, manage funds, and allocate budgets to AI Agents. Virtual Wallets, on the other hand, are specifically designed for AI Agents, operate through API keys, and enable users to set spending limits, whitelists, and single transaction caps as security measures, allowing agents to autonomously call APIs and purchase services within controlled parameters. Additionally, Cloudflare Wallets will support stablecoin storage, x402 protocol-based micropayments, and integrate with Cloudflare's previously launched Monetization Gateway, providing websites and apps with automated transaction capabilities tailored to AI Agents.

Cloudflare stated that in the future, the Internet will gradually transition to a new "Intelligent Entity Economy" driven by AI Agents, where wallets, payments, and identity authentication will be key infrastructure components. Through the cloudflare.pay identity standard, AI Agents can obtain a human-readable identity name to help merchants identify the corresponding account and organization, enhancing transaction transparency. Cloudflare announced that it will continue to enhance the agent's commercial ecosystem, providing developers and businesses with foundational tools to support AI Agents in autonomous purchasing, selling, and interacting, driving the Internet from a human-centric service model to an intelligent entity-oriented automated market.
