Ravencoin Network Experiences Critical Consensus Vulnerability, Potentially Facing Deep Reorg
August 11th, PoW blockchain Ravencoin issued a tweet stating that its network experienced a critical consensus vulnerability that has been exploited, leading to vulnerable nodes accepting invalid blocks.
The first known invalid block appeared at height 4,487,776. Currently, 2Miners and RavenMiner, who control the majority of the hashrate, have stated that they are mining a chain starting from height 4,487,776 to exclude the exploited branch. If this chain becomes the dominant chain, it may result in a deep chain reorganization of about three days.
The official recommendation is for CEXs to temporarily halt RVN deposits and withdrawals until the network stabilizes; transactions confirmed after height 4,487,775 should be considered at risk. The official statement also emphasizes that this notice aims to enhance transparency and risk awareness and does not endorse any rollback or recovery schemes.
