Industrial and Commercial Bank of China: AI Could Further Widen the Wealth Gap
August 12th, according to a report by Societe Generale, artificial intelligence may accelerate the development of a K-shaped economy, where gains are increasingly concentrated among those already at the top.
The analysis points out that while AI can reduce the wage gap by helping low-skilled workers perform more complex tasks, its impact on wealth may be very different. Because AI rewards ownership of computing power, algorithms, data, and financial assets, this could further concentrate wealth.
This trend has already been evident in the AI winners who have increasingly dominated the stock market and corporate profits.
