Bank of America: Intel's Financing Move Indicates Increasing Confidence in Its Foundry Business

Aug 12, 19:26

August 12th, Bank of America released a report stating that Intel's $20 billion equity issuance would result in a per-share earnings dilution of approximately 4%-5% due to the increased share count, but this is still seen as a "positive leading indicator" of management's growing confidence in the foundry business.

The institution believes that this financing is overall a net positive, as the foundry scale and customer confidence will drive long-term revenue growth and operational efficiency improvements, enough to offset the modest EPS dilution in the short term. The analyst added that he reiterates a Buy rating on Intel but has lowered the institution's price target from $160 to $145 to reflect the moderate EPS dilution and a recent reevaluation of AI computing peer valuation multiples.
