South Korea's sovereign wealth fund, KIC, made its first investment in Circle, holding $4.1 million worth of shares in the second quarter.

August 13th, the Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) made its first investment in the stablecoin issuer Circle. Data disclosed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shows that as of the second quarter of 2026, KIC held 65,443 shares of Circle, with a holding value of approximately $4.099 million (about 58.3 billion Korean won). Previously, KIC held stakes in crypto-related companies such as Strategy, Coinbase, Block, Robinhood, and Riot Platforms. In the second quarter of 2026, KIC reduced its holdings in Strategy, Coinbase, and Riot Platforms, while increasing its stakes in Block and Robinhood. The total value of its related U.S. stock holdings increased from $132 million in the first quarter to $168 million in the second quarter, a growth of 27%.

Specifically, the holding value of Strategy decreased from $10.61 million to $7.17 million, a 32% decrease; Coinbase decreased from $52.99 million to $36.93 million, a 30% decrease; Block increased from $17.25 million to $27.34 million, a 58% increase; Robinhood increased from $45.88 million to $87.96 million, a 92% increase; Riot increased from $4.95 million to $8.42 million, a 70% increase.
