Anthropic CEO: Even if models stopped updating today, existing AI might have only realized 5%–10% of its value
Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated at Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference that even if model capabilities were to stop improving from today onward, people may have only unlocked 5%–10% of the potential value of existing AI.
He believes that model capabilities have already run ahead of real-world applications. Many enterprises and ordinary users don't even know what existing AI can already do, let alone truly integrate these capabilities into their daily work.
Dario cited Anthropic's own example. Internally, some people have already had Claude directly combine with Salesforce data to identify the biggest deals of the week, the orders most likely to be lost, and then analyze project issues and closing opportunities. These capabilities are already usable today, but very few people are actually putting them to use.
This also complements his recent stance on "slowing down frontier AI." What Dario wants to slow down is the continued strengthening of the most frontier models, not the application of AI. In his judgment, even if models were to pause at today's level for now, there is still enormous room for enterprises to truly put existing capabilities to work.
