SEC Chair Reiterates Commitment to Advancing Regulatory Certainty Under Existing Statutory Authority Regardless of Whether the CLARITY Act Passes

September 17 — U.S. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, commenting on the Senate vote result for the CLARITY Act, expressed gratitude to the U.S. government, Congress, investors, and innovators for their efforts in advancing the bill, saying that a shared belief that the United States must continue to maintain its leading position is indispensable.

Atkins reiterated that regardless of whether the relevant legislation passes, the SEC will take decisive action within the scope of its statutory authority to provide regulatory certainty for U.S. investors and entrepreneurs driving the future of technology.
