HKMA: CMU to launch new service by year-end, supporting 24-hour real-time on-chain settlement
September 23: Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Eddie Yue stated in his speech at the Treasury Markets Summit that Hong Kong's stock, foreign exchange, and bond markets are mature, while digital finance is rapidly emerging. The Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) will launch a new service by the end of this year, which will provide 24-hour, real-time settlement on the chain, support e-HKD and central bank digital currencies (CBDC), and will also study the acceptance of tokenized deposits and regulated stablecoins for settlement on the platform.
