OpenAI gives Codex a 28-day sprint: clear improvements every day, or the quota resets.

Oct 5, 11:01

动察 Beating AI News Flash: OpenAI's Head of Product and Platform, Thibault Sottiaux, announced that for the next 28 days, Codex and ChatGPT Work will either ship one update per day that "clearly improves things for most users," or perform a full reset (reset quotas).

The day before, Sottiaux also said the team had "locked in the target." User feedback has been clear: people want the product to become simpler. Going forward, the team will focus on only four categories of work: simplifying the product, improving efficiency so users get more usable capacity, breakthrough features, and new models.

This statement comes as Codex is facing stronger external competition. After Anthropic released Opus 5.5, comparisons between Claude Code and Codex in the community increased noticeably, with discussion mainly focused on model capabilities, speed, and subscription quotas.
