There are too many pornographic AIs: a16z directly kicked them off the list, otherwise they would have accounted for 20% of the Top 50.

Beating AI News Flash: a16z has released the seventh edition of its Consumer AI list. This list is compiled every six months, ranking the most popular AI products by monthly visits and monthly active users, with Top 50 lists for both web and mobile. The new edition directly changed the rules: AI products primarily used for pornographic content will no longer be included in the rankings.

The reason is not that no one uses them; on the contrary. a16z says that if they continued to count by the original rules, such products would account for more than 20% of the web Top 50, meaning at least 10 spots. a16z therefore decided to treat them as a separate category and no longer rank them together with other consumer AI products.

Mainstream assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude have stricter restrictions on adult content, leaving demand for these products.
