October 6 — Michael Burry, the real-life figure behind "The Big Short," disclosed today via his Substack account that he adjusted his portfolio for tax-loss harvesting: sold Lululemon and rotated into Deckers, sold Fannie Mae and bought Freddie Mac; swapped his Sprouts Farmers Market position for 2028 call options, swapped Zoetis stock for 2029 call options, while increasing his JD.com 2029 call options and BYD common stock, and added new MetLife 2029 put options.

In addition, Burry is still waiting for Alibaba to fall further, while his Fiserv position remains unchanged. Burry said the fourth quarter "will bring additional pressure on stocks that have fallen sharply."

Note: Tax-loss harvesting adjustment refers to selling losing assets to realize paper losses, thereby offsetting capital gains from other investments and reducing tax liability.
