October 9: Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has donated at least $22.5 million to U.S. federal candidates and super PACs in this election cycle, and plans to further expand his political investment. According to Bloomberg, Larsen's personal net worth is approximately $13.3 billion, and his key focus areas this cycle include cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and wealth taxes on billionaires.

Larsen previously opposed the crypto industry political organization Fairshake's plan to spend $30 million to block Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown, and subsequently donated $4 million personally to Brown. Although Ripple, which he co-founded, has contributed $48 million to Fairshake this cycle, bringing its cumulative donations to $93 million, Larsen and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse are reassessing future funding.

In the AI sector, Larsen has donated more than $4.5 million to a super PAC countering pro-AI organizations, and has said he supports setting strict safety boundaries for AI development; in the clean energy sector, a political action committee he supports has invested about $10 million to help several Republicans who oppose renewable energy lose their primaries. In addition, Larsen has invested at least $12 million to oppose California's proposed wealth tax on billionaires.
