Analysis: Bitcoin long-term holders have been consistently profitable since 2023, with the current unrealized profit buffer reaching 72%.
October 13th, crypto market analyst Axel Adler Jr stated that on-chain data shows the average cost basis for Bitcoin long-term holders (LTH) is $48,600, with the price approximately 72% higher than their cost. This group has been in profit since January 2023, with the most recent approach to the cost line occurring in March 2023.
The LTH average cost basis peaked at $49,500 on July 30th and has since decreased by 1.7%. Since August 1st, 60 out of 74 days have shown negative weekly changes, with the largest single-week decline being 0.34% on August 25th, and the current reading is -0.06%. The analyst noted that this decline remains moderate; further decreases would indicate accelerated selling, while a return to positive values would mean long-term holders are re-accumulating.
