Iran's Foreign Minister says negotiations with the US through intermediaries are still ongoing, refusing to disclose the additional conditions set by the US.
October 21: Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said in an exclusive interview with a Middle Eastern television station that Iran and the United States continue to hold indirect negotiations through mediators such as Pakistan and Qatar.
Iran had previously proposed a "seven-day plan" to the US side and clearly listed Iran's conditions; according to the plan, the Strait of Hormuz was originally scheduled to fully open on the sixth day. Araghchi said the US side had informed Iran that it agreed to these conditions but wanted to add several additional clauses. He declined to disclose whether the additional US conditions involved security or economic issues, saying, "We will not negotiate through your station."
Araghchi stressed that Iran demands the US side fulfill all commitments under the previously signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, and only after the US fulfills them can the two sides begin negotiations on other topics. He said that at the final stage of negotiations, the two sides can discuss any subject or issue raised by either side and reach a final agreement on it.
