Musk: ASML and others are accelerating the delivery of chip manufacturing equipment for Terafab.
October 21: Elon Musk stated that Dutch company ASML and other key chipmaking equipment suppliers have accelerated deliveries to Tesla and SpaceX's Terafab project, indicating that the billionaire is rapidly advancing his ambitious semiconductor project.
Speaking on SpaceX's third-quarter earnings call, Musk said: "These timelines are very aggressive, and we are very grateful to ASML and all the other suppliers for accelerating equipment deliveries to meet this goal." Musk said SpaceX plans to achieve mass chip production at the Terafab facility in the third or fourth quarter of 2028.
Musk also serves as CEO of both Tesla and SpaceX. Terafab is a plan proposed by Musk to meet the large-scale chip manufacturing needs of SpaceX and Tesla. The project's goal is to fill the supply gap from existing suppliers such as TSMC in advanced artificial intelligence (AI) processors and other chips.
