ENSv2 officially launches on the Ethereum mainnet.
October 27: ENSv2 has officially launched on the Ethereum mainnet. The new version introduces a hierarchical registry and a more granular permission model, allowing individual domains to serve as independent on-chain registries. Communities and institutions can customize issuance rules for subdomains and manage partitioned authorization. It also updates domain resolution methods and supports record link sharing. The frontend comes with a new ENS App for general users and ENS Explorer for developers.
ENS stated that the ENS ecosystem currently supports over 36 million domains, covering more than 600 applications. The official statement noted that existing .eth domains will continue to function normally without the need for re-registration, and users can voluntarily upgrade to ENSv2 within the ENS App starting today.
