Canton plans to launch tokenized U.S. stock trading as early as November 2, potentially becoming the first under new SEC rules.

October 30 — Nasdaq-listed company Canton Strategic Holdings (CNTN) announced an agreement with TSV, a permissioned tokenized securities trading platform on the Canton Network, to offer its common stock for trading in an issuer-sponsored tokenized form, targeting a launch as early as November 2, and stated it is expected to become the first case of compliant tokenized onshore U.S. equities under the U.S. SEC's innovation exemption framework.

The tokenized shares are issued by Fairmint, an on-chain transfer agent registered with the U.S. SEC, which maintains ownership records, and holders enjoy the same rights as Nasdaq shareholdings. Trading is intended to be provided via the Tradecraft protocol in an automated market maker format with near round-the-clock trading and atomic settlement, and participants must undergo identity verification and sanctions screening. The issuer-sponsored model can circumvent the objection and notice processes common to third-party tokenization.
