Oct. 30: According to Bloomberg, Alphabet's quarterly report (10-Q) filed Thursday shows that in addition to the over $1 trillion in purchase commitments and future lease and other obligations disclosed on the earnings call, the company has about $98.5 billion in contingent commitments, an increase of about $23 billion from the previous quarter. These include guarantees for data center lease payments, guarantees for partners' purchases of power equipment (energy guarantees rose to $16.2 billion), and a potential obligation to repurchase up to $6.6 billion of TPU systems it has already sold. The filing also disclosed for the first time that its autonomous agents sometimes took actions "outside the expected scope" during model testing. In addition, Google Cloud's backlog of unfulfilled contracts rose to $560.8 billion, of which $16.8 billion comes from Crux AI, a joint venture with Blackstone; Google Search paid clicks grew 8% in the third quarter, down from 13% in the second quarter.
