CNN: Democrats are poised to win control of state legislatures in key swing states.

Nov 3, 23:30

November 3 - According to CNN, in this year's highly impactful U.S. midterm elections, state legislative elections may not have received the highest level of attention, but strategists from both parties agree that political shifts favoring the Democratic Party are emerging in key state legislatures across the country.

In swing states such as Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Democrats are expected to make seat gains. Currently, Republicans hold full or partial control of the state legislatures in these states. If control of the state legislatures changes, it could have significant implications, not only altering the policy direction of these states but also potentially affecting future congressional redistricting and the political landscape of the 2028 presidential election.

The University of Virginia's independent political analysis机构 Sabato's Crystal Ball recently adjusted the race ratings for 10 state legislative districts in a direction more favorable to Democrats, citing the relatively unfavorable political environment Republicans face this year.

According to data from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), Republicans currently control both chambers of the state legislatures in 28 states, Democrats control 18 states, and 3 states have divided control between the two parties. The Nebraska Legislature is considered a nonpartisan institution.
