Salus: About 3,600 SOL Stolen from Binance Flowed Into HitBTC Hot Wallet via Multiple Paths

Nov 4, 00:33

November 4 — Security firm Salus said in a post on X that about 3,600 SOL of the funds stolen from Binance were moved through multiple paths via automated scripts, using a peeling chain pattern, and flowed into a HitBTC hot wallet at 16:51 Beijing time on November 3. Salus said HitBTC has again appeared in the money laundering path of a major crypto theft, with about $22 million in illicit funds flowing into the platform as of July this year; in the roughly $1.4 billion Bybit theft, at least $3.68 million in funds linked to North Korean money laundering networks also flowed into HitBTC, while Bybit's subsequent requests for assistance in the investigation received almost no response. Salus noted that hackers often launder money through nested services such as instant exchange services, small exchanges and OTC desks, and that HitBTC has played a key role in multiple cases.
